Magnetic Particle Inspection
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT): In this method, a magnetic field is introduced to the testing area and dry magnetic particles are applied. A discontinuity on the surface or just below the surface will disrupt the magnetic flux field that has been established, leaving the small particles to gather in this location and make an otherwise hidden discontinuity visible.
Wet-Fluroescent Magnetic Particle Inspection
Wet-Fluroescent Magnetic Particle Inspection (WFMT): With the same laws and principles of magnetism applied as the MT method, WFMT is carried out with the use of fluorescent magnetic particles suspended in oil or water and performed using an ultraviolet light source. This combination is successful in detecting very fine linear discontinuities which will appear vibrant for accurate sizing and recording.
